The FREEZTEQ® rising damp treatment system was invented in 1965. It has been used successfully for over forty years to provide a rising damp treatment to a variety of brick and stone buildings, both in the UK and world-wide. In 1975 FREEZTEQ® was awarded a gold medal at the 4th Salon International des Inventions et des Techniques Nouvelles in Geneva. FREEZTEQ® is a unique and highly effective rising damp treatment which offers several major advantages over other chemical techniques. The rising damp treatment system is based on siliconate solutions (in the form of circular section, pre-frozen packs called “ice sticks”) which are inserted into holes drilled into the mortar line of the wall to be treated. The slow-melting system ensures a continuous water-repellent barrier throughout the treated area because the system depends on diffusion, which research has shown to be the most effective method for fluid distribution in masonry. Accurate dosages can be readily achieved. Application costs are thus remarkably low. When damp patches start to appear in a property, it\'s worth attending to them as soon as possible. Choose to ignore the problem and it will only get worse, and may cause more problems in the long run. A damp proof course is inserted specifically to stop rising damp in walls. One type of damp proofing that has proved to be popular for a number of years is the Freezteq® system. This damp proof system utilises ice sticks containing a siliconate solution, which should be inserted directly into the mortar joints. If you are fairly competent at DIY, you can insert a Freezteq® damp course on your own. Customers will find that the ice sticks can be used on any wall thickness – you simply insert more for thicker walls. Normally only one side of the wall will need to be treated and, in most cases, it is easier to insert the Freezteq® damp course system from the outside, causing less disruption. The Freezteq® system has been used in many damp courses for over 40 years and has proven to successfully form a barrier for damp proofing walls.
